1. Check the Machine Before Using it
The first thing you must do to ensure that the ATM machine is safe to use is to check it. Take a look at the back of the machine to see if there is an additional device attached to it or not. You must also avoid using a machine that has been vandalized or broken. It is always best to use an ATM that is located in a busy area.
2. Hide Your Passcode
When using an ATM machine, always hide your password while entering it. Many ATM thieves install cameras above the machine to capture your password and card details. Therefore, hide your password with your hand so the camera cannot capture it. Many ATMs have CCTV cameras for protection of the customers, but you cannot be certain if the camera is installed by the bank or by a thief.
3. Keep a Check on Your Receipts
A great way to stay safe from ATM frauds is to always get a copy of your receipt every time you withdraw money. These receipts help maintain a record that you can check with your bank statement. If you find any mistake in your statement, call your bank immediately and get things checked to avoid losing money.
